Week of February 4th - Feb 8th

We had a quiz last Friday and most scholars did well, all of the scholars are to have their parent sign their test and show it to me.

Monday...We will finish up our unit on Percents with a lesson on interest rates, students will have to find some examples of interests rates for homework.

Tuesday...We will be doing a practice run of the state test in the computer lab. The Honors 7 students will be taking the 7th grade practice and the 8th graders will be taking the 8th grade.

Wednesday - Friday...We will be using algebra to find missing angles. Important concepts to know are parallel, supplementary, corresponding, vertical and congruent. There will be homework Wed and Thursday.

FYI...the NYS Math assessment will be March 6th and 7th. Beginning next week, The 7th grade honors students will take a break from 8th grade work to review 7th grade concepts. The 8th graders will review what we have been working on this year.

Many of the students are struggling with rounding numbers to the nearest hundredth (2 spaces to the right of the decimal). Please feel free to practice a few with you child. It drives me nuts when they do all of the difficult algebra, only to get the problem wrong due to rounding!

Stay warm
